Making Green the New Business as Usual

This week the Environmental Defense Fund released a report entitled "Innovations Review 2008: Making Green the New Business as Usual."  "The report highlights the latest trends and best practices that demonstrate how environmental sustainability efforts are creating new markets, providing competitive advantages and saving companies millions of dollars."

One of the projects I have been putting quite a bit of work into is called Visionary Values. It will be a web-based database that can rank companies based on their achievements according to a range of sustainability categories. The initial stages of the project will focus on natural products companies and will look at issues such as fair trade, organics, renewable energy use, recycling, community and charity involvement, packaging, etc. Ultimately, the user of this database will be able to find out which companies conduct themselves in the most sustainable manner.
